Workshop policies and how we handle your details
Potimel keeps a short, plain-language set of policies covering privacy, the terms that apply when you order furniture, and the handful of cookies this site uses. Every page below is written for customers of our Surry Hills workshop rather than copied from a template, so if something reads oddly or you cannot find an answer, call the workshop on +61 2 8412 6739 or send a note to potimel@hotmail.com and we will explain it in person.
Questions about a policy
If you need a copy of the information we hold about you, or want to change how we contact you, these are the direct routes to the workshop.
Quotes and orders
A quote from Potimel is valid for thirty days from the date on it. Prices cover the work described in the quote and nothing else. If the room turns out to differ from what we measured, for example a wall that isn't straight or a floor that isn't level, we will tell you before doing anything that changes the price.
An order becomes binding when you accept the quote in writing and pay the deposit.
Deposits and payment
We ask for a deposit of fifty percent before timber is cut. The balance is due on the day of installation or, for tables, before delivery. We accept bank transfer and card.
- Deposit: fifty percent of the quoted total
- Balance: due on installation or delivery
- Late payment beyond fourteen days may attract a charge of two percent per month
Timelines
The build times in our quotes are estimates based on the current workshop schedule. Timber supply, drying time and delivery windows can push them out. If something slips, we call you with a new date rather than leaving you to chase us.
We are not responsible for delays caused by building access, strata approval, or a courier we did not book.
Installation and access
You agree to give us clear access to the room on the agreed day and to move anything breakable out of the way. If the space is not ready when we arrive, we may need to charge for a second visit.
Warranty and returns
Our joinery carries a ten year guarantee on hinges and drawer runners, and a five year guarantee on the carcass and finish under normal household use. Timber is a natural material: small movement, colour change and grain variation are not faults.
Because every piece is made to your measurements, we cannot accept a return for a change of mind. If something is wrong with the workmanship, tell us within seven days of installation and we will fix it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute goes to the courts of that state.
Come and see how the workshop runs
Reading a policy only gets you so far. The workshop is open Monday to Friday, and you are welcome to drop in, look at the timber rack and ask how a build actually works before you commit to a quote.
